2 Allen Banks and Staward Gorge Extensive area of hill and river scenery spectacularly sited above the River Allen. Woodland, rich in wildlife, Victorian wilderness walks with scenic viewpoints and ornamental pond. 6 miles from Keepers Cottage.
3 Errington Reay Pottery Works, Bardon Mill Pottery established in 1878. Traditional techniques used to produce unique salt-glazed pottery for the garden and the home. Visitors can see the range of historic buildings and the large coal-fired beehive kiln (probably the last inBritain) and can purchase seconds from the retail area. 5 miles from Keepers Cottage.
4 National Park Centre, Once Brewed Northumberland National Park Visitor Centre and Tourist Information and exhibition area, internet access. 2 miles from Keepers Cottage.

7 Roman Army Museum History comes alive at this spacious museum next to the superb Walltown Crags section of Hadrian's Wall. The museum has reconstructions, life sized figures, Roman objects, films and much more. 8 miles from Keepers Cottage.
8 Vindolanda Visitors may inspect the remains of the Roman fort and settlement, see its extraordinary finds in the superb museum. Look at daily life and full-scale replicas of Roman buildings. 3 miles from Keepers Cottage.
9 Killhope Lead Mine North of England Lead Mining Museum. A good day out for adults and kids
10 Alnwick Castle & Garden The Alnwick Garden was created by the Duchess of Northumberland and covers over 40 acres. It was opened in October 2002 by its patron HRH The Prince of Wales. The most spectacular feature is the Grand Cascade which is the largest water feature of its kind in the UK. The garden also includes one of the world's largest wooden treehouses.
